Matthias W. Kroll, LL.M., MCIArb

Matthias has over 20 - years extensive experience as a trial lawyer and legal advisor in the fields of employment law, insurance law, financial services, real estate and commercial law in Germany. In addition to his many years of practice as a litigator, he has experience in matters such as out - of - court settlements, as well as participating in commercial mediation and arbitration proceedings as a party advisor or an arbitrator/mediator.

Matthias has been a certified specialist lawyer for employment and labor law since 2005 and a certified specialist lawyer for insurance law since 2010. He holds a Master of Laws degree in insurance law. In 2016 he was accepted as a member of the renowned Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. In 2017 Matthias completed a training course to become a business mediator at the Rostock Chamber of Commerce. Since 2018 he has been a certified data protection officer of the German TÜV.

The focus of his work is advising medium-sized companies on all commercial law issues, in particular labor law, insurance law, commercial and corporate law, capital investment law and real estate law. He represents in court proceedings, but also in mediation and arbitration proceedings. He is an arbitrator of the Hanseatic Bar Association Hamburg for legal protection insurance disputes.

Matthias maintains strong links with several Scottish institutions, e.g. Scottish Arbitration Centre, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Glasgow (Faculty of Law) and law offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. He was involved in several German - Scottish law cases as a party advisor over the last ten years.
